SC Democrats Applaud Release of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
November 19, 2009
Columbia – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate released the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which will reduce the federal deficit by $127 billion over the next 10 years while extending health insurance to 31 million Americans. In response, South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler released the following statement:
"This bill does just what the President has talked about for months – it offers stability and security for South Carolinians who have insurance, provides quality, affordable coverage for the uninsured and lowers costs for families, businesses and governments.
"South Carolina's working families can no longer bear the burden of skyrocketing premiums, out-of-pocket expenses and unfair insurance company practices. I thank President Obama and Senate Democrats for their commitment to passing reform now."
