DeMint Takes Partisanship Over Health of Constituents
November 12, 2009
Columbia, SC- South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler released the following statement today in response to U.S. Senator Jim DeMint's interview with Fox News on Tuesday. DeMint (SC-R) told Fox News Host Neil Cavuto that he hopes that Senate Republicans "do nothing" to pass a health care reform bill for the country.
"Senator Jim DeMint continues to put partisanship over the wellbeing of his constituents. By opposing reform just because he opposes President Obama, the senator ignores the 700,000 South Carolinians he represents who struggle to live without health insurance. South Carolina voters are tired of "Party of No" politicians who offer no real solutions to the problems of our state and nation. I believe that health care reform will be Senator DeMint's Waterloo," said Fowler.
