The South Carolina Democratic Party Is Busy Being First

November 13, 2007

Columbia, SC- With the first Democratic presidential primary election in the South less than 75 days away, the South Carolina Democratic Party has its hands full.
But party officials aren't complaining.

"This is a thrilling time for the South Carolina Democratic Party. You can just feel the excitement in the air at our headquarters as we prepare for our January 26 presidential primary," said SCDP Chair Carol Fowler. "We're thrilled to know that South Carolina will play a vital role in electing our country's next Democratic president."

The Party's level of pre-election excitement will rise later this month during the SCDP's 2007 Federal Delegation Reception. US Congressmen James Clyburn and John Spratt will be the honored guests at the November 27 event being held in the Meridian Building in downtown Columbia.

"We're celebrating the first year of a Democratic Congress. This event will allow us to show Congressmen Clyburn and Spratt some of the recognition they deserve for their hard work in Washington," said Fowler. "The Federal Delegation Reception will also build momentum among South Carolina Democrats that will follow us into 2008."

The first month of 2008 will also be a busy time for Democrats in the state. On January 21, the Congressional Black Caucus Institute and CNN will host a debate with all presidential candidates at the Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach. The SC Democratic Party will hold a VIP reception prior to the debate.

The SCDP will also host a Primary Election Eve Stump Meeting on Friday, January 25 at the Jamil Temple in Columbia.
