South Carolina Democratic Party Internships
Want to break into politics? Get to know the names and faces of South Carolina’s leading Democrats and help us support Democrats around the state by interning with the South Carolina Democratic Party. The SCDP is currently seeking responsible and capable individuals who are interested in learning first-hand about politics. SCDP internships require a time commitment of at least 10 hours per week.
Internships Focus Areas:
SCDP interns focus on one particular area of operations and Party activity. At times, however, all interns are expected to assist in whatever areas are needed. Focus Areas include:
- Communications & Press
- Membership & Party Building
- Fundraising & Compliance
- Political & Field
- Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee
- State Senate Democratic Committee
Internship Responsibilities:
Responsibilities associated with an internship may include membership recruitment and outreach, list management, monitoring the media, various writing projects, event planning, research, and various special projects as needed by the Party and SCDP staff. A more detailed explanation of responsibilities associated with each area of focus will follow once your application has been received.
Internship Qualifications:
Qualified interns should…
- Be dependable, detail-oriented, motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
- Be interested in politics and the political process and be knowledgeable about Democratic Party issues;
- Consider themselves a Democrat;
- Be available to work at least 10-15 hours each week Monday through Friday.
Interns play a vital role in Party operations, and we rely a great deal on our interns to produce high level work.
